I just wrote a post about Dean Winchester’s favorite food, Double Bacon Cheeseburgers. Seriously, I wrote it like 10 seconds ago.
I wanted to separate the recipe for that from the recipe for my bacon spice. Please don’t tell me that bacon doesn’t need seasoning. I get it. A lot of people on the planet believe that bacon is best on its own.
I respect your opinion and I want to assure you that I am not trying to insult your personal beliefs. I have taken this very seriously and have been careful to develop a seasoning that compliments (dare I say, enhances) the natural flavor of bacon. This is not designed to overwhelm the bacon, but to make it sing. Like you, I love and respect bacon for all its bacony glory. My mantra is, “when in doubt, bacon”. It is what I live by in the kitchen. What makes my macaroni and cheese so amazing it’s always requested? BACON.
1/3 cup granulated garlic powder
1/3 cup granulated onion powder
3 tablespoons pepper
1 tablespoon salt
4 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons ground mustard
Combine all ingredients in a bowl or zip lock and stir (or shake) to combine. Sprinkle on bacon.
NOTE: You should not use all of this spice mixture on one batch of bacon. That would be bad, and the bacon gods would take their vengeance upon your soul. You’re basically just sprinkling this on the bacon, you don’t want to coat it in the seasoning or anything wackadoodle like that.
Store remaining Bacon Spice by securing with a tight-fitting lid or zipping the bag closed.
Also, I found this poem. You’re welcome.
